Accents, should work. The forum does crop them away, but TGE shouldn't.. as far as I know.

Why angry? If it wasn't claimed to be supporting what you're looking for, then you have no reason or right to be angry.Accents, should work. The forum does crop them away, but TGE shouldn't.. as far as I know.

sorry, I should probably have not used this term and waited
a little bit before posting. However,
it's not written anywhere if accents are supported or not.
By default I have supposed that they were supported,
as this is a very basic feature of a modern toolkit.
The fact is that they don't work, at least on Linux which
is my platform. When using the GUI editor (F10) if you try
to enter accented letters then are silently filtered.
I can copy and paste accents from another window, which
can be considered as a partial work-around for this problem. But
accented input seems to be impossible.
I assume that this is simply a bug? Probably in the
way the X Window input is analysed.

I'm using Win XP pro instead of linux though, but Torque supports it.
Hope that's what you're looking for.

I can't say what problem you're having, but I just tested mine and I can get accent marks and apostrophes to show up in GUIs just fine. The ' went in as any other character. The ' worked with an escape sequence \' Both showed up fine.

Hope that's what you're looking for.

Unfortunately this does not describe my problem. The problem
is with the input of letters present in French but also
most European languages.
I tried the Windows version of TGE and it works OK here, with the exception
of dead keys not managed properly.
After a look to TGE source code it appears that the problem is either
in the SDL lib or in the way it is used by TGE to manage input. But
I have no time right now to investigate further.
Anyway if I can be of any help to TGE developpers I'll try to do
it when I can.

You might want to move this thread to the Private SDK forums because it looks like the answer you seek is in the source itself.
