Problem with LCD display - dead pixels are moving

This is retarded I know... but where else to ask for crazy ideas?

There is a little bug crawling around my LCD display, in between the lcd and the backlight. He measures about (squint...) 8x3 pixels. He moves around but right now he's sleeping. This is really irritating me... if he would stay in one place maybe I could learn to live with it and pretend they are dead pixels. Maybe it's a she and will lay eggs and then this display will be useless.

I tried to take apart the display and after about 30 minutes realized I cannot get that far into the unit. I tried banging and thwacking the unit to see if I can dislodge him. How many G-s can a LCD display handle before being actually damaged? Is he eating my display or just hanging out in a safe warm place?

Too funny.

chances are that it's not sleeping anymore, and that it's in fact dead.

which isnt that bad, eventually it will loose it's moisture and get brittle and then fall to the bottom.

to hasten the process, you might want to shine a warm (not hot) lamp on it, to dry it out quicker.

Thanks Jason - I hope that it does just dry out and fall to the bottom

You have my sympathies. I had a little thunder fly (UK'ers will know what I mean - a tiny little black fly) crawl under mine for a while. Luckily though, it managed to crawl back to edge of the screen and came out on his own!
