Batman Begins is worth seeing

Having been "treated" by EA last year to see Catwoman early, I didn't have high hope for Batman seeing it tonight at 6:30p.
Boy, was I wrong. This is the darkest Batman ever, and it makes it easier to understand the man and the batman.
Very good beginning to jump-start the franchise. The cast, story, everything came together really, really well.
Scale of 1-10 (10 best), I give Batman Begins a strong 8.5. Better then Batman and Batman Returns. I don't count the other two, other then for cheesy laughs.

You gotta be kidding man! People are still holding on to a ideals that split our country 100s of years ago? I don't know that movies should pander to them if they can't let go of that. The idea that the Wanes have a history of philanthropy & good will made perfect sence to me. I have a friend from Tennessee and he thought that scene was great.

I grew up in South Carolina...you know..the state that *started* the Civil War...and the reference didn't bother me at all.

Your right though, people need to let go of the past.

@Anthony - Personally I liked the scene, it didn't bother me at all. I hate to tell you this, but there is a political movement still to succeed the south from the Union. There are two political parties, one that put up a presidential canidate last election (and appeared on the ballot here). There are still parts of this state that you don't go to if your white and some if your black. It is a crying shame. The klan is still alive and well here as well. That isn't just Arkansas either.Your right though, people need to let go of the past.

@Alan I feel that scene was important to show that Bruce Wayne's great grandfather was helping to free slaves by helping build the underground railroad. It showed that his whole family line were good people and faught for what was right.
Maybe I'm wrong and I don't mean to get into a political debate over this but, I feel that anyone who can get offended by or alienated by Waynes family line "helping the north" by freeing slaves, is a racist and in my eyes, scum. They would rather have kept slavery going. I doubt the studio that made Batman or anyone associated with the making of Batman would want to cater to anyone like that anyway. I'm glad you didn't have a problem with the content Alan but your people need to open their eyes or die off so that people like you can raise your families in a peacful environment. Am I wrong?

I'm not a huge Batman fan but the movie had me absorbed all the way to the end. I often forgot I was in a theatre at all. Very intense.@Alan I feel that scene was important to show that Bruce Wayne's great grandfather was helping to free slaves by helping build the underground railroad. @Ajari - I agree with you totally. I was just stating some of the feedback I've heard at work.

Yeah, gotta agree-Batman Begins is a really good film-great dialog and acting from several of the actors. Good mix of action/dialog/setup.

The Dark Knight returns!

It was good to see the movie take the character seriously. The Burton films were good, but even back then they still weren't quite Batman. Being a comic book geek, the late 80's were a great time for comic books and the '89 movie was enjoyable, it was still treated with a bit of camp (some of it quite cringe worthy!).The Dark Knight returns!

You'd have thought they could have at least found a convincing stunt double for Christian... all you could see was his mouth for cryin out loud.
Bugs me.

Overall, I thought it was EXCELLENT. Best Bat-movie to date. The only area I would have liked some improvement was in the fight scenes... all those camera cuts bug the snot out of me. I see it as a way to cover how poorly the people involved actually move. You never see that in a martial arts flick (not when the actors have any Skill). You'd have thought they could have at least found a convincing stunt double for Christian... all you could see was his mouth for cryin out loud.

I loved how they show the evolution of the bat suit. The bit with ordering the mask and the "quality control issues" was great.
They could have left out the "Civil War" bit. I live in Arkansas and I can tell you that that brief conversation between Wayne and Alfred could/can/will alienate some audience. Civil War is still a touchy subject here and Abe Lincoln is still seen as a crooked politician. They should have let that part out.
