I was thinking that maybe GG should take a survey with several questions for both developers and people buying games, to better know who developers are targetting and who GG is targetting. Kind like what valve did for hl2.

I was a long time user of Win98SE but reluctantly installed WinME when I couldn't get everything to work properly on a new motherboard after the old one died. The only reason I still use any version of Windows is that most of the games I like to play require it. Everything else I use a computer for could just as well be done with Linux.

I like to use Cygwin for development as much as possible. At some point I'd like to do more with Linux.

WinME is something that will cause you great pain. I would go to XP as soon as you can.

I have a P-3 1GHz that I still have 98 on to make sure TGE still will work on, and another P-3 1 GHz with ME, but my main development machine for now is a P-4 2.4 GHz with XP. To be honest, I never had a problem with ME like so many people claim. I only upgraded to XP so that VS 7 and 3DS Max would run. In fact, I use the ME machine for my LAN server for TGE development. It works great.

Disabling System Restore reduced the great pain of using WinME to an occasional nagging itch to install Linux. :p
