Hey,
I have created a model and have the skeleton from the original orc. I have scaled the skeleton to fit my model, but I dont know how to get the mesh to move with the skeleton. I have 3ds Max 6. I have been unable to find how to do this. So could someone please tell me how to attach my model to the skeleton, or show me where to find out. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. I looked for also look for a long time for the orc skeleton. I didnt get it from the orc itself, but from the Mr. Blue Guy. The guy who created that said he just took the original orc and deleted the covering mesh to get to the skeleton. Then he just added blue boxes. I loaded that for MAX and just deleted the boxes to get the compatible skeleton.

I looked at the site that was given to me, and I dont think its much help with the skin modifier. it just mentions it in passing and tells you what to aviod. it doesnt tell me how to assign the vertices to the joints. This is so much easier in milkshape, it shouldnt be this hard in Max. what am I missing?

Just check the manual for all the information about the skin modifier you'll ever need.

Indeed, learn the tool before you try to use it for production purposes you will save yourself a lot of issues and headaches in the long run and enjoy a great tool for what it is.

Two months ago I had never used the skin modifier (always used physique before). Took me a couple of minutes to get started with it after reading the manual.

Well, I would rather say; learn how to search for and find information, it's the ultimate skills as it can teach you anything =).Two months ago I had never used the skin modifier (always used physique before). Took me a couple of minutes to get started with it after reading the manual.

Where did you get the original orc skeleton? I've been looking all over for it.
Also - here is a link to a website that has the whole process detailed:
