Any Project Management Templates Out There?

by John M. Bauer · in General Discussion · 05/17/2005 (8:42 am) · 7 replies

I'm embarking on my first Indie development project and as the project manager, I am responsible for putting it all together. Now I know many of you have done this already, so why reinvent the wheel, eh?

Does anyone have any game project management templates they wouldn't mind sharing? How about any NDA or partnership/developer agreement templates? I've gone and purchased the Family and Business Lawyer software (Broderbund) and yes, they walk me through the standard forms and documents, but it would be nice to have an Indie game boiler plate that contains certain paragraphs, addendums, and suggestions regarding IP, art, and other developments.

Likewise for a PM plan. I have scoured the Net and didn't find anything applicable to gaming. The closest I have is a movie production schedule, which I may adapt. Anyone out there that can help?

Cheers,

I've searched there as well. Didn't come up with what I was looking for. All of the templates and project management help centered around programming. The project management articles and discussions talk about that you need it, but not necessarily the sharing of plans, agreements, or boiler plate type of documents.

Thanks though for pointing me to yet another resource.

You know, I was looking for those there as well. Do you know of a specific area on GDNet?

I couldnt find them. Might have been somewhere else... If you are serious about the contracts it is going to cost yo ua pretty penny to get the contracts looked ower by a legal professional... This is a solution you might be interested in: http://gamedevkit.com

it is a kit with lots of info and contracts, including NDA's and copyright stuff... It is 295$ US

From the looks of the package, it does definitely contain the legal documents needed. I'm surprised that everyone would turn to such a product and not share boiler plate documents in the same manner that they share code.

If I intend to definitely make this a business, this would be a product worth purchasing. Have you used it yourself, or do you know of anyone who has? I didn't see anything related to updates, but I imagine it would stay pretty current (how often do the dimmensions of such contracts change?).

Thanks again for pointing me in this direction.

I have not used it... However, it has been on my list of "Extremely useful things" which is not an easy list to get on.
