Whatever happened to the T2d Community Project idea?

If anything the project should be done with the out of the box SDK.
Wanting to drive it in a certain direction or add networking is what takes it more
towards a commercial project and away from a simple community SDK built game.
This is why I bowed out of the last proposed project. It got WAY to complicated fast.
Originally my thoughts where a GID on steroids. 30 days.. SDK and script (no C++ mods)
Simple and fun. But a bit above the Fish and Side Scroller demos. Below a full blown
custom project.
EDIT: Oh yea and I also had kicked around the idea of a Realm Wars T2D.
Would allow use of existing resources and storylines.

I'd be interested in helping out, should someone take the reins and bring it forward.

Id be intrested, I am currently working on a RPGish team v team game. Basiclly you start out in a map and farm for food / mine for materials / hunt for materials(bone) and food then once you have built up your town (build like houses and blacksmith huts and such) you go and attack the enemy team. The team to take down a special building or totally raze the other town wins.

I can see it working: you run up to the top of the tallest parapet, grab the sniper rifle, which unmounts the camera from your guy and lets you aim freely about the map, picking off anyone stupid enough to come out of cover... blood sprays on the walls... Particle explosions and gibs...
Maybe it wouldn't suit the family player but it would be a lark to join a game with 30 or so other players all trying to dominate the level.

How about a game that is a side scrolling shoot em up. With a difference... Its networked! Over the internet, side-scrolling deathmatch / capture the flag / jailbreak gameplay.I can see it working: you run up to the top of the tallest parapet, grab the sniper rifle, which unmounts the camera from your guy and lets you aim freely about the map, picking off anyone stupid enough to come out of cover... blood sprays on the walls... The problem, which is inherent in a community or large project of any sort, is coordination. Logistics. Which is the main reason I have yet to see a successful community project, at least, not many of them.

An online platformer has been something I've always seen tons of speculation about, but little actual results. And none of the completed ones have ever been like you described, which is something I too would like to see.The problem, which is inherent in a community or large project of any sort, is coordination.
