I don't really like the new website, the speed is better and the google
search is fantastic but there is too mech white space and I feel like something missing.

I don't get why everyone is saying the google search is fantastic, most everytime I search for ANYTHING, it brings up a bunch of links to some other website, I have yet to find a single relevant result... for instance, if I want to take a look at my MMORPG tutorials, I could do a search in resources for the keyword MMORPG, this yields NOTHING at all relevant...
http://search.garagegames.com/search?q=MMORPG&restrict=resources&btnG=Search+GarageGames&ie=&site=GarageGames&output=xml_no_dtd&client=GarageGames&lr=&proxystylesheet=GarageGames&oe=

There aren't that many results in the set, and they all point to a site, that I'm not interested in. Same thing happens for just about every resource I try to search.

Also editing posts appears to be hosed.

Hmm dreamer it worked fine for me. I put in mmorpg tutorial in the search window and the first 2 links were to your posts.

Search results

EDIT: I also had the drop down list set to "all documents"

EDIT2: I also haven't had any prolems editing posts, as I have just edited this one twice. Using IE 6.

Got a wierd prob at the mo! All posts seem to marked as unread! All my old posts on on my account page and unread posts brings up thousands even though last time I clicked 'Mark all as read' there were only 22

I like the improvement, although took a few minutes to find my way around and a few more minutes to find "My Garage"/"My Account".

Overall I feel it is a great improvement, the google search is much better than the previous way of searching.

What's next on the list :-)

New site is awesome. The change makes GarageGames seem way more "hip, now and on top of it" than the old one. Glad to see all that clutter gone.

While I definitely like the speed of the site, and the Google searching, I find the grey on grey text in the posts very hard to read for any length of time. Even just a darker shade of grey for the type (or a lighter one for the background) would greatly increase the contrast and readability. And although completely cosmetic, I don't find the yellow really works with the GG logo - what I liked about the red is how it tied in the Torque products, which to me is what GG is all about.

I'm not 100% convinced. But that's probably because I got too used to the old site. I'll just have to learn to like it lol, just that right now I dont find my way anymore. Graphically, yeh, it does look better, but its all a bit empty now. And I noticed the google search not always displays what I expect it to show.
But anyway, change it good... change it what will keep TGE/TSE/T2D alive, so it was a good move to change the site.

I think the side-bar menu should be on the right side of the screen so that, when you scroll down to read threads, everything is left-justified. It just seems odd reading from the centre of the screen and then right to the right edge of the screen, where there's no margin.

I like it and yet I miss some things about the old site. I like the look a lot better ... the only thing I miss though are the links on the right side that constantly stayed there no matter what. Now you have to navigate through a lot more pages ... you can't just jump from forums, to .plans, to resources as easily. Also, I liked the fact that forum posts were highlighted when they had recent hits ... even if the forums get more action it's still cool to see the ones getting attention popping to the top of the stack ... I always look to see when it jumps back up to know someone posted to it.

Oh and the only other niggle ... is that since the Game Store is so compartmentalized from what it used to be (the main page of the site) ... why not give all the games the big box shots ... even if the top sellers remain at the top ... seems like no reason not to give the other's proper box shots and descriptions ... just put them lower on the page. Before it was a much bigger deal since you were trying to compress the page as it was also the homepage.

^ This is broken.

Nice to see a site redesign... mixed feelings here... change is so tough, lol

It shows 'Featured Games' at first, then if you click 'All Games' they all get the box shots, etc. Even AA ;)

The site looks great! Just took a few minutes to get used to it. A lot nicer search feature now. I didn't have to update any of my links on my website niether. Great job in updating the site.

I just the resources worked. Some are giving me Cannot Find Server errors. Specially Dreamers. I still like the site though.

It's been almost two weeks with the new site and let me say it's been a fantastic change! The Google search especially has made me easily twice as productive on my project.

Thanks Rick and the rest of the Garage!
