Indie License Question(s)

by Chris Sargent · in Torque Game Engine · 04/30/2005 (11:26 pm) · 6 replies

(a) This license is granted to individuals only, and cannot be owned by corporate or business entities.

Does that mean I could not start a small game development company and purchase with company money licenses for any developers working at the company?

(b) Licensee agrees to display a full screen Torque Game Engine logo in the start up sequence of any game created and released with the Engine.

Where do I obtain this logo at? My demo only displays a garage games logo when I start it up.

Thanks :)

A) If you wanted those licenses to be per-seat (ie, not owned by the developers) then you would have to buy commercial licenses. If you're ok with the licenses being tied to the developers (and your company makes less than $250k a year, if I remember the number correctly), then you can have them buy indie licenses.

b) I'll get ya an answer soon.

Thanks Ben that clears it up. Indie license is per developer not company owned and commercial is company owned.

Thanks on the logo. I'm working on my GUI's and need a TGE Logo.

@ Chris

You can find the default logo at : starter.fps/client/ui. There are two logos :

GarageGames.jpg (800*600) and gglogo150.png (almost the same but 150*150).

Hope it helps.

Chris: Try here.

Stefano: They are both GG logos not TGE ones.

@Chris: Yup. Indie is also income-limited, so that big companies can pay big company prices and indies can pay indie prices.

Thanks everyone for all the help.

Now I can actually see my GUI in the completed state as it should be according to the license :)
