Exporting materials?

by FruitBatInShades · in Artist Corner · 04/27/2005 (3:46 am) · 6 replies

I have made some models in Blender. Due to the nature of the models I have used large UV maps. I have 4 images that are used for the UV textures but when I export the materials are nor carried out, there is no material reference and the model does not find the images inside TGE although they are there.

Any ideas?

Are you trying to put 4 seperate images onto one model? I've researched and done experiments in getting models with multiple textures to export, but had no luck.

Thats exactly what I'm trying to do :(

As long as you can get them individually out, you could use this resource to put them back together.

Do the names of your Blender materials match the names of your image files? AFAIK you can have multiple materials on one model, but without code rewrite each material can have only one image.

My natural inclination would be that it makes sense to have a single material on a single object. Just make the image a bigger square. You would just need to position the different seamed islands in your uvmap neatly to make an understandable map. This is probably not what you are looking for, but if you supply some screenshots of what you are doing, maybe I could understand better. There might be an artist's workaround in there somewhere.

Thanks

I posted my personal checklist of Blender material exporting hints here

How it helps, but don't blame me if it doesn't :)
