Noob on starting, help?

Hi, over a month ago I decided it was time for me to stop being just a consumer of gaming and become a creator, and Torque is my choice for starting. I know C++ a tiny bit (leanred the basics about 2 years ago), but need to refresh myself as well as learn all the stuff I should know. If anyone can answer the following questions, much thanks:
-Is a 128 or 256 mb graphics card a good choice, or is it going overboard?
-Is there other software I should have and use along with Torque? (note: I already have Gimp, Blender, gmax, Photoshop, and Microsoft Visual C++)
-What books/links are great for me to start learning how to formulate my ideas into code/game in torque?
once again, thanx in advance.

The only thing you can't use is gmax... it has no exporters for TGE (unless you pay descreet a stupid amount of money)
