1.4 progress?

How are people getting on with the CVS version of 1.4? Is it stable enough to be used? Is there a possible date for release?

I don't think it's stable enough for a game project, although the constructor code seems to be dead on, it seems that would be a good item to port over to 1.3 codebase but all in all the 1.4 base seems to be quite buggy.

Constructor code?

Edited: Sorry for the bad choice of words, I didn't mean that the release is
buggy in general, but more that it really isn't finished yet and thus some
things are not working right.
I am very happy with the changes to editor as it seperates those scripts into
their own mod folder though and that particular feature may be worth me
taking the time to try and reproduce with the 1.3 codebase for my current
project, possibly even making it a standalone program (for internal use).

I'm running the 1.4 release candidate with no problems so far. There may be minor bugs but there's nothing bad enough to stop me running my test level perfectly to date. It did take a bit of effort to get it running under Linux though. It's really just for windows/VC++ at the moment.

You just run Torque normally. The creator mod should not be specified as a loaded mod.

The error drop-down will be a godsend :) I notice the LOD on the med pack is now fixed too :)
The changes to the GUI editor are good as well. There is still that annoying problem with the cursor being 1 character out when you get to the edge of the textbox though :(
I also don't get any crossbow explosions in the Starter.fps. Have these been taken out or is there a problem here?

Thanks Ben, is the creator mod a refactor of the normal world editor? Is/will there be an update feed at some point to let us know whats changed and how to use the new features? The error drop-down will be a godsend :) I notice the LOD on the med pack is now fixed too :)

Has there been any news on 1.4? I've been out of circulation for a few months.

If you take a peek in the bug forum, Ben has been busy using the bug swatter.
My wishful thinking is that rc2 will be out soon. I'm crossing my fingers .... and toes, and hands, and feet, and arms, and legs.

Thanks for the update David. I guess it will be ready when it's ready and not before :)

When will RC2 be out? Sooner than you expect but later than you hope =P

Matthew when will your Walking on Movable Platforms code be released in the TGE 1.4?

By coincidence thats exactly the change I am hanging out for too.

I am not sure if that change is going to make it into 1.4 since I am going to basically be in crunch mode for the next month and a half. I have been considering releasing it as a resource (warts and all) in the interim till I have a chance to make it completely robust (so it might be 1.4.1 before it makes it officially into the engine).

Seriously that is the only thing I'm really hanging out for so if it could be released as a resource (warts and all) that would be great. I expect to have to make a few changes to it to get it to work with my version of the engine anyway.

Tony

Question about 1.4.... will you be able to transfer missions from 1.3 to 1.4 without any modifications?

There will be an upgrade guide for anything that changes. I believe 1.2->1.3 was pretty painless in terms of art assets and such.
