Availability of Dev Snapshot

Ok,
I have put up a snaphot on April 2nd (Adam Pack was up). Now I understand that GG wants to showcase their products so I didn't have a problem with the Adam pack staying up until April 5th, replaced with Terra Formations (in the queue before mine). Then on the 6th the Ragdoll pack went up (with an id after mine). Again no problem with GG highlighting their products. But Ragdoll has now been up for 6 days and mine is still not displayed.
Come on, give the non GG projects some time (a couple days would be nice considering the wait).
Thanks

Is this for the BattleTech game? Perhaps questionable legal issues are keeping it at bay.

and from your .plan it sounds like it is

If your game is baised off of someone else's intellectual property, it is possible that they can't showcase it w/ out you proving you have the rights to it. and from your .plan it sounds like it is

I realize that they don't have to notify me if a snapshot is declined, however I have fulfilled all of the requirements listed on the submission form. It's a shame, because it really turns off a contributing developer to not be able to showcase their work, especially when there doesn't appear to be any logical reason.
Thanks.

Well, I'm a little confused since 1. they posted my previous one, 2. as far as I know they have not been notified by Hasbro that there is an issue (as I haven't been notified), 3. I'm working with a group that is dealing with the licensing issues, and 4. I am an involved contributing member to the forums and resources.I realize that they don't have to notify me if a snapshot is declined, however I have fulfilled all of the requirements listed on the submission form. There's nothing to stop you from posting a .plan with your images.

It's good to hear that you're working on an extension license to FASA/Microsoft's exclusive license, though. Good luck with that. Perhaps if more fan-based titles went that route, there would be more entertaining fan-based games that made it past the cease and desist stage.

I just gave my best guess without seeing the screenshot. How do you know that a handfull of people didn't submit things that got queued behind released products and your at the tail end of that? :)

We have already posted a shot about the Battletech simulator. The shot did not show much progress and the product is questionable. It will not be posted. We do not notify if a snap is not posted.

Matthew, since I am a programmer by trade, I know to look for the signs of a system (and the snapshot system isn't too complex). I look at the ids, they automatically increment when a new sumbission is entered. Here are the ids:
Adam Pack 973
Terra 974
Mine 976
Ragdoll 978
Air Ace 980

I think the biggest difference between most shots is that they are just that screen shots. I have a demo where people can actually interact and experience the changes. And my description was very clear on what programatic changes were made. And to argue the point, my last shot was just after Terra's last shot and their new one isn't much different (I thought it was going to be pretty funny that Terra and I were going to have two shots next to each other twice).
I am questioning your review process if the form "requires" a detailed description but you make a decision on just the picture.
Thanks.

Like everyone else said, .plan it - it will get more exposure that way anyways. I read every single new .plan, I look at the screenshot gallery once every blue moon. Actually, maybe less than that - 3 times in 1 year so far.

Not sure if you will manage to read this but, wouldn't it be possible to at least inform people if their snapshot is declined. It seems the polite thing to do. Not informing them means that they can't judge if :
A. The snapshot wasn't of a good enough quality.
B. Other reasons (like legal concerns etc. etc.)
The only recourse than is to pester you guys about it or re-submit again and again!
Lack of communication seems to have been the cause of many a negative post in recent weeks. The solution to which seems to be a simply matter of an email or two.

Heh, that would've been funny if we had snapshots side by side again. :P
I just want to say that my favorite thing about visiting GG on a daily basis are the Snapshots...good or bad. I like to see what's out there in the community.

@ Derek: Actaully, we released a Snapshot for Terra: Formations because we have a demo we have been working on and the graphics were dramatically different (we think). Just wanted to show the community what we were working on, I get e-mails from GG members (usually the really young members) asking about Terra. Ours was only up for a day anyhow :(Heh, that would've been funny if we had snapshots side by side again. :P

I live for the .plans... it is upsetting that there were so few today.

If you feel that way then maybe you should pony up and start paying GarageGames a fee to showcase your work? No? I didn't think so.. you just think you're somehow entitled. Ya that must be it, you think you are entitled, if not then why the 20 questions?
GarageGames doesn't owe you anything. From my experiences working for a company in the online business Jeff Tunnell probably gets 50, 100, even 150+ emails a day. You think he has time to respond to every single Dev Snapshot submission?
Instead of the bitching maybe you should just say "Thank you" otherwise shutup and move along.

If I'm not mistaken the Dev Snapshot is provided as a service to the community as a method to showcase our work. The last time I checked this service was provided out of the good will of GarageGames. Now, all of the sudden they are somehow obligated to showcase your work?If you feel that way then maybe you should pony up and start paying GarageGames a fee to showcase your work? No? @Candid: Man...chill. Everyone on here is just discussing this, we don't need you to come in thinking you are a moderator and tell people to shut up and move along. GG should know people's concerns...that's how things work. Besides, people just look foward to have their Snapshot up, no biggie. Also, while they are not obligated to put up a Snapshot, that's a big reason why people come to this site. I think the Snapshot sections of GG are the best part, for me anyways. I know without the Snapshots....my visits here would not be daily, more like weekly...or just when I need some info on something.

If you look closer at my statements, you will notice that I do not have a problem with what GG is doing or how they are doing it. My issue comes from a disparity between what they say they are going to do and what is actually done. If there was a statement that said, "tell us what you are doing and we will put it up at our complete discretion," I wouldn't have a leg to stand on (and I'd understand their position). But their requirements are very carefully spelled out on the submission page and I felt that I had fulfilled all of them.
Besides, I have posted my plan instead.
Blake, thanks for the response.

People say plans get mroe exposure, not sure how much of that is true. On an average plan i may get 5 replies, in a snapshot that goes upto 20-30
Maybe that just measn ppl are reading plans and not commenting, dunno.
I tend to stick to plans for more regular updates and snapshots as an occasional update.
Im sure gg get plenty of notworthy snapshots so i appreciate the fact they filter them. Perhaps some sort of acception/rejection system should be in place much how it works when you offer a person membership.

Personally i love new snapshots. Its one of the main drawcards to gg for me. Plans come a close second.People say plans get mroe exposure, not sure how much of that is true. On an average plan i may get 5 replies, in a snapshot that goes upto 20-30

There already is an acceptance/rejection system in place... If the dev snapshot is posted it is accepted... if it dev snapshot is not posted it is rejected. Seriously though, I have just instituted a dev snapshop rejection email.
