Vehicle physics

I am trying to think through my design into how to code it. I am using the tank code as a base but I am sure code for any vehicle would work.

Has anyone created anything that takes into effect the fact that going up a hill in a vehicle will slow it down and going down will speed it up? Also, has anyone implemented a gearing system?

The physics system takes care of the former. I think a few people have done the latter, check the resources.
