Importing dts

by Chris Labombard · in Artist Corner · 04/08/2005 (5:07 am) · 5 replies

I know that dts objects can be imported into modeling packages, but I haven't been able to find an importer. I am specifically looking to utilie the Orc's skeleton on other models. If anyone could point me to an importer for 3dsmax (6) it would be very helpful.

As far as I know I haven't heard of any tools that import DTS into say Max or Maya - I do remember reading somewhere that the Tribes 2 guys never needed this since they have the original files.

The orc skeleton is the same as the tutorial player skeleton (I believe) and thus would be easy to take from that one - You can already use the animation files onto your model if you export it with a typical biped.

But I want to take the player biped to save my artists having to biuld it on there own. Tutorial Player Skeleton, Orc skeleton. Where can I get the Torque Player Skeleton from then? Is there a skeleton file? Is it just a naming scheme? Is there a 3ds or max file for the Torque player?

I havent tried this but ultimate unwrap3D imports .DTS and you could export it to .3ds or onother to import into max. I do this with my cartography shop models. and i think it even exports the bones to. the ultimate unwrap3D site with have exact info.

The blue guy, the green alien, and the orc .max models all have a character studio biped in the file that is the default skeleton used with all the TGE default animations. I believe the green alien is in the max file pack (with the docs).. the blue guy can be found in one of my .plans

There also a skeleton in the milkshape exporter you can use.
