Ninja: The Secret Society

Ninja: The Secret Society (Mod for quake 3) is looking for people to help out with Html and cgi work, becuase I have no clue about cgi....


We're also looking for The usual team members, ( I dont think I have to list them all out, you've heard it all before, many times -_-'). (But just in case, we're looking for Programmers, modelers, mappers, Texture artists, skin artists, animaters, shader artists, we designers, people that know how to install a forum, know cgi, or html very well, you get the idea)

And as you'd expect, there will be no pay at all. Its not because im greedy, but thats what the agreement with the creators of Quake 3 is, we arent allowed to profit off of they're engine unless we buy the rights to do so.

Now to tell about the mod....


This mod pits Ninja vs Guards, each with they're own objective, the objectives can vary from retreiving and artifact from the caste (Which is guarded by...well...guards), to Protecting the cartle, to assasanating and enemy.

How do you fullfill these objectives without tools? You dont. thats why these tools are provided =)

These are the tools provided for the Ninja:

-Smoke Bombs
Description: Billows out concealing smoke for a limited time.

-Shiruken
Description: The ever popular "Throwing star", you know what it does, hmmm...wait maybe you dont, these cannot kill, unless you hit the player in a vulnerable area. They are also very inacurate (Shuriken can be used "Offhand") .

-Poison #1
This poison effects the eyes only, it causes the poisoned persons eyes to become blurry and confusing. This poison can be spread over most weapons. (Damage is only taken from the initial blow)

-Poison #2
This poison when spread over a weapon, causes the infected body part to become inoperable, if you are hit in the legs your walking will be slowed for a certain period of time (If hit in both legs you wont be able to move), if you are hit in one arm, the damage you deal is cut in half, if hit in both arms you cant attack. If you get hit in the head, you get knocked out and cant see or hear anything. When hit in the back/chest/stomach your get 20% slower and 20% weaker(Damage is only taken from the initial blow).

-Cow Blood
This item is animal blood packed into a small leather pouch, then used it can simulate human blood being there, thus fooling you enemy. There is a limeted quantity of blood in that pouch so use it sparingly.

-Grappling hook
The grappling hook will act just as it would act in real life, and not like conventional Quake grappling hooks.
The longer the button is held the farther the hook goes (It has a limit).

Guard Items:

-Antidote #1:
The Antidote to Poison #1, cures the poison.

-Antidote #2:
The Antidote to Poison #2, cures the poison.

-keys to castle doors:
Only one Guard can hold these, the unlock all the doors to the castle.


Main weapon use


-This section applys to all normal weapons in the game.

The weapons effected by this section are....

Ninja Sword: The Ninja sword is shorter than the Guard sword, since the ninja sword is made from a broken katana (Fixed up after). Since it is shorter, it is more durable, and less prone to breaking. (The ninja also prefered smaller swords because of they ease of transportation.


Guards sword: Katana, this is your normal avrage Katana, it is not broken like the ninja sword, so it is much longer, this gives it more levrage and makes it more powerfull. But its legnth also makes it more prone to breaking.

Bow and arrows: Used by guards, your average bow and arrow, the longer you hold the attack button the farther it goes, but also the longer you hold the button the more shaky your aim gets. the bow also comes with a Quiver to hold arrows in, arrows can be picked up off of the ground or pulled out of walls.

Naginata: This weapon is also usefull for a sweeping cutting type motion, to keep opponents back, because of its curved blade it needs a pretty long range for attacking, so dont use it in group situations. The drawback and the Plus of this weapon is its distance, its usefull for hiting opponents far away, but it the opponent gets close....its bad.
The naginata could also be used in a proding type fasion, maybe not as effective but it could. And due to the sake of gameplay, it cant be used in that fassion.

Yari: A long staff like weapon, it is used in a rapid jabing type motion to attack and deter opponents, it is very effectivve for surrounding opponents and prodding them, and eventually killing them. The drawback and the Plus of this weapon is its distance, its usefull for hiting opponents far away, but it the opponent gets close...to bad.

-Weapon use:

To use any of the swords and the naginata, you take out the weapon you want to use, hold the attack button and move the mouse in desired direction, the weapon will respond to the angle you moved the mouse by rotating it to simulate real sword combat, such as a piece of cloth moves the angle you moved it.

Example: I Click the mouse button and hold it down, mean while I move the mouse to the left the sword responds by first moving from it previous vertical angle to a more horizontal angle with the tip of the sword facing the right part of the screen, then it moves to the left simulating a sword swipe. It does this for all sword weapons, and the naginata.

-Bow and Arrow use: Click and hold the attack button to "charge" the attack,(the longer you "Charge" the farther it goes and the less accurate the arrow is), then just aim and shoot. It takes a while for the guard to reload the bow, so there will be no rapid firing.

-Yari use:
The Yari is one of the more simpler weapons to use, just point the mouse in the desired poking direction, charge the attack (Or use Quik jabs if you like) and let go of the mouse button. Naturaly the more charged up attack does more damage, but of course requires the charging period, which leaves you open.
