GarageGames Website Moderator?

I understand that the GG forum is moderated fairly well already, amongst the employees, but I feel that, since the large expansion of younger children, the website would do well to have it's own moderator... Someone who combs through all of the help-wanted adds, to make sure that they are valid, and spends his days searching the forums for bad posts.
Not to single any individual out, but after looking at page after page of adds like this:
And hundreds of people who use Character/Space/Letter tricks to place their names up front, as well as all of the people who don't even visit the garagegames website any longer (and haven't made any purchases so they aren't losing anything with the deletion of an account).
Even offering this as an unpaid-intern position over the summer would be beneficial towards the image of GarageGames, and all of it's active members.

Quote:Time & Payment:...
Time Frame: 1 month
Pay: 5$ at end on project
Synopsis:
I need a few three d images to get a game started, see big descrip. for details.
Description:
All I need is 1 main ch., about 4 different types of enemies, 2 bosses, a cool sword (that looks evil and posessed, a few items (health packs [small and big], ammo [for a pistol], and anything that would look like it restores energy), and a trusty pistol. Note that this is going to be a resident evil type game, so make sorta scary monsters and bosses.
*BONUS*
Extra 5$ for a few level landscapes. Make em big, w/ buildings, dark, and scary.

It wasn't about this thread in general. I tried to get that point across in the post but I guess I failed.
No offense to George or anyone.

I did'nt intend for that to come off badly. It's just with all this logo stuff and all lately, I think we should just lay off the requests in general. It wasn't about this thread in general. I tried to get that point across in the post but I guess I failed.

A solution would be to implement a system similar to Slashdot's where people can rate other people, so if their score is under certain level you can ignore posts/plans/resources from that individual, the treshold level would be customizable from your profile page, and every new member would start with a score of 1, so it's always visible, and change from there based on the ratings from other members. It works for Slashdot :)

I second Xavier's suggestion. It would be a really good feature for the next version of this site...

While I think the idea has merit, I personally find slashdot's implementation impossible to use well--maybe it's just user error, but it tends to make threads extremely difficult to follow for me!

Sounds like an interesting idea...

Forum tools, rating systems (they all have good & bad attributes), moderators, a great 'spring' cleaning have all come up in our internal discussions.
We all benefit from an amazing community, we do want to find ways to let the community have tools to self-organize and administer content and communication. TDN will be one of our first attempts at using an open technology format to better expose, organize and encourage contributions as well as let the community moderate them.
We do have additional initiatives we're working on (some have 'moderated' aspects), but as is our way we prefer to under promise and over deliver when projects like these can end up getting reprioritized with our limited resources and ever expanding demands.

Thanks for the dialog and ideas on solutions. We want to 'ease the pain' and recognize the need for improvement, but as Charlie has observed we do have to make priority decisions and improving Torque technology is our first priority leaving less resources than we would like for community resource improvements. @Jay: It's good to know that you are thinking of ways to solve the problem, at least slowly. I have stopped reading the forums mainly because they are too big, too many posts, and 50% of them at least are crap (sorry for the expression) or people just starting pointless discussions or complaining about their lack of skills to master Torque. If there was a way to moderate users (like in the SlashDot style) it would bring the number of posts to read down a lot.Regards,
Xavier.

Looking forward to TDN and what it will do for the community :)
