Jpeg-like compression problem on a bmp skin

by Joshua Dallman · in Artist Corner · 03/26/2005 (9:16 am) · 2 replies

My modeler and I are both looking at the same model with ShowTool Pro. When I look at it, there's a pink border on the dress that looks pixelated, almost like jpeg compression. When he looks at it, it's not there. It's definitely not there in the BMP, and there's no other skin files in the directory that the model is in. Below are the literal ShowTool screenshots from him and me respectively. What's wierd is that it's ONLY the pink border on the dress that has this behavior -- everything else about the model looks great. Any ideas?

I definately think its something localized on your end and related to your graphics card. I would chock this up to some video card settings. You should go into your video properties and ensure that you haven't set something for optimized performance as opposed to a balance or quality.

Well I'll be damned. Took the exact same model and loaded it on my computer at work and there was no problem with that pink seam. I'll defintiely look into my video card, driver, and graphics settings.
