Terrain Editor: Water

by Bill Henderson · in Torque Game Engine · 12/19/2001 (9:53 am) · 10 replies

I've got water working in my map, textured and all that, however, I don't know what the "submergeTexture" value does. I've tried putting a texture in that field, relighting, the whole bit, but I can't see a visible change.

Does anyone know what it does?

Thanks

As far as I know, nothing. I've never used it or seen it used in any missions. Maybe Tim or Rick can shed some light on it?

That is the texture that is overlayed over the screen when you are submerged in lava.

Hey Zear! edit: this is powdahound :)

I wonder if they could add a preference for the color overlay when you're under water. Having it always be blue isn't good if you want some greeish water like I do. :) Think you guys could add that to the datablock or something? Thanks.

I believe you use a (colored) fog layer to give you the color that you want under water.

someone try this. make it so you can use a textures sequence to create the effect of different substances. maybee different colored water.

It's good that Zear beat me to this one, because I didn't know the answer. Actually there are large portions of the code I'm not familiar with, but I have the advantage of know the overal structure and where things are located, so it usually doesn't take me long to figure something out :)

Zear's the man for this stuff. And we're proud to host him at Tribalwar ;)
