T2D currently runs without a server e.g. just single client. You don't have to worry about any of that stuff.

We are scheduled to do the networking support for T2D sometime after the EA release has been fully rolled-out. In theory, you can start a server and use RPC networking if that's what you want to do though.

Also, if you're an existing TGE owner, you can transport and compile the T2D code within the TGE platform if you wish.

Lots of people are doing lots of cool stuff on the private forums now, none of it involves any server/client stuff. Pretty amazing to see a handful of games already only days after release.

If you've got any other questions on T2D then please just ask. Don't want you to feel like I'm railroading you. :)

There's no complex server/client arrangement. You can just jump in and start getting 2D objects whizzing around the screen without having to worry about all that stuff. :)

You can post anymore questions that you have here, I'd be happy to answer them.

Excellent, thanks, one other thing i should as is:

the type of game i was gonna be at looking at making will prob. need to be tile based and i know t2d has a map editor. It'll start off as a single player for now but will be turned based. so for online multiplayer so when it does need to send data it'll not be a const. stream. is this possible as t2d stands at the moment with needing n e thing too complicated.

It is possible but be aware that we've done minimal testing of the new network side of things although I am pretty confident that for turn-based stuff, you'll not encounter any problems.

I'd definately recommend on focusing your efforts (as it sounds you will do) on finding the fun-factor of your game before you go all out on multiplayer.

Get T2D, get some quick screenshots and post em so we can look see.

We just can't get enough screenshots at the moment. :)

Good luck and see you on the forums.

@ Melv - The game that I really want to make with this would be multiplayer only. Is it worth my time to get T2D now and try to make it work with the TGE code like you suggested or would I be better of waiting a few weeks/months for the full version to come out w/net code installed?

@Rob: Hard to answer that one. All I can say is that we've got untested (although don't see why you'll have problems) RPC networking so you can happily use that. If this is cool for you then sure, go ahead and purchase. If you want full networking or if our schedules will hold you up then don't purchase.

I would say that you're still going to need to learn T2D at some point so why not learn it now, not when you need it?

Just a thought.

Thanks Melv, I'm talking to my friends about purchasing it now. I think I'll get a single license and build a demo with hotseat play as a tech demo for the company we want to work with. If they like the concept, then we can go ahead with development and everyone buy T2D.

@Gavin: That is so good to hear. The more we hear this, the more we believe we're doing a good job and that T2D is on the right 'track. :)

Good Luck and don't forget to post those screenies when you've got some!

Hey! I bought TGE and I'm really struggling to grasp it. So I bought Darkbasic Pro. Would it be a better starting point buying T2D than these two? And I also have the problem of not being able to finish a project because I can't get really nice starting points to learn from. So will this be a better option? But it looks AWESOME!! Thanks!

Since this is in EA there is a minimal amount of editors and stuff. It is a good way to learn the scripting though. A lot easier then learning Torque script for TGE.

It's still fun and easy enough to learn and has a awsome comuntiy to back it.

It's worth the money too considering what will come from now until final release. Not to mention that it will be more expensive if you wait to purchase it then

I completely agree with Charlie...

T2D is a great starting point to learn scripting, plus it shares similarities to TGE, so great place to start :)
