Error: Missing a bone

by Mark Rooke · in Artist Corner · 02/23/2005 (8:21 pm) · 3 replies

I am trying to export a character out of Maya with an animation, but first I am just trying to export the character with the joint system so then I can export the animation. I have followed Danny Ngans tutorials and have tried to do somethings that Kenneth Finney has done in his book with Milkshape hoping that something there might tell me why its not working but I still get the same error no matter what I do. I get an error that tells me that I have a bone missing and I'm not sure what bone I would be missing or if I have labeled something wrong or what the problem could be. I have worked with Maya before and made animations and rendered them with Maya but this is the first time I have tried to export to and engine and I'm not sure whats wrong. I'm hoping someone has seen this problem and can tell me a few things to check that might solve my issue.

I'm getting the same problem. Did you have any luck with this?
I took a look at the dump file, and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, and in fact it doesn't even end on a skeleton-related line, it ends after the ground transforms. So any help would be great.

I just had this problem and it turned out that the problem was that I had added a Sequence_Anim node and was trying to name my root 'Bip_01_Root'.

Changed those and everything was golden.

I don't know why that would pop up an error that a bone is missing.

Hope that helps.

I have exactly the same problem. At first I thought it was a problem in our rigging. But even when creating a brand new simple shape with simple animation. It gives same error. I cant export any animation.

Any help will be much appreciated. Please guys.
