Using Quark 6.4

Is there a diffenence in the way maps are created in Quark
when you configure them for the different games?
For instance, what benefit would I have for setting it up
for Quake 3 instead of Quake 1.
Same as for Half Life.
Do the each have their own benefits?
Reason I'm asking is that I have Quake 1, Quake 2 and Half Life 1,
and I'm thinking of buying Quake 3.
Please be detailed in your response.. this area is kinda fuzzy to me.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond~!

Each game has a configuration file that tells QuArK what type of entities it can place in the map. These entities are then turned into the correct type of object (like a light) when the map is compiled for the specific game.

The game configurations just set things up slightly differently. Aside from the actual map architecture, you have lighting, spawn points, doors etc. These are called entities and are specific to each game. These entities are then turned into the correct type of object (like a light) when the map is compiled for the specific game.

Do you feel strongly towards any particular one?
I just bought Quake 3 Gold from an Austrailian company
and installed Halflife. I'm not sure which config to go with.
I'm going to make an RPG Fantasy type game.

I think you misunderstand. Buying those games does not mean you can use the engine and create a new game! You need to choose the config for the game you are making maps for.

What I'm wondering is, do I have to have the game
installed to make maps for that config using Quark.
What game config will allow me to make the best
interiors / levels for torque. Does one work better
than the other? (Quake 1, 2, 3, Half life, Soldier of Fortune,
Hexen 2, Heretic 2.)
Why would I use HL instead of Quake 3?
Does the map2dif convert .valve format to .dif so
that I can use the Half Life config?

That pretty much clears that up.
So I can't create a map for Quake and
have it export to .dif and it work in Torque right?

You create a map for TORQUE using the torque definitions in quark.

Thanks again very much.
Second question is still.. does anyone care to
meet with me and spend some time working
with Quark?

it can't find the default textures for some reason.
It has been like this since installation.
I have copied the textures to all the directories that
they appear in under 6.3.
(Null and Constuction.jpg's)
Anyone have that problem and know the remedy?

Is there anyone in the Kansas City area that would like to get
together sometime and sit with me through Quark.
I would like to get to a high level of proficiency fast.
I could buy you lunch or something that would make their
time worthwhile.
