Using TrueSpace 4

Anyone using TS 4.x or 5 for their modeling I'm really interested in anyone using version 4 of TS. I'm just a hobbyist and someone who just wants to look at the engine code, but would like to know if anyone has gotten TS models or scenes into the TGE.
When I searched for TS on the forums I had 3 threads returned all of them saying an exporter was in the works, has this been completed? Or is it possible to export to 3DS within TS and get it to work in TGE (Torque Game Engine). Or, does it only support export of the models? No skin information, no bone information, animation, etc...
Please let me know as I am a hobbyist and even though I work as a Network Admin/Software Engineer in the real world I do not feel like spending $2500+ for 3DS Max. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

Let me further evaluate MilkShape, but from what I have read does it not only export models, what about animations? Will it export texture maps or is this devised in a 3rd party application.
If MilkShape does all of this I can start with MilkShape, and thanks for the idea.

Actually yes I have looked into MilkShape, however, the features that TS seems to offer would be a worthwhile purchase. A lot of features to whet ones appetite :-)Let me further evaluate MilkShape, but from what I have read does it not only export models, what about animations? Do you have to do this in other 3D programs such as 3DS Max or Truespace4? This seems like a tedious process and one in which should be self defined when you create a model (outermost edges, ones that you texture map defined as face). If this is true this is one of the reasons I would like to go with TS if it supports this feature.
What is the status of exporters for TrueSpace? Scene, models, animations, etc... If there is an "open source" version still in the works I would like to look at it and help in anyway I can.

Just took a look at Milkshape and it does look good from a "hobbyist" standard. However, I was looking through the tutorials and saw that you actually had to define the "faces" of the model.Do you have to do this in other 3D programs such as 3DS Max or Truespace4? Not sure if you can get it all the way into the Torque engine.

I've looked on the Caligari website and supposedly trueSpace supports exporting 3DS filesNot sure if you can get it all the way into the Torque engine.
