Interested in buying.

The Amazon.co.uk link ends up at an error page FYI. :(
I have a question though, I have read numerous reviews, and I assume most are from experienced coders. I have no knowledge of coding whatsoever, and am soley interested in putting together working playtest of my combat system using scripts, which I have read to all intents and purposes are capable of doing this. Therefore rather than sitting around waiting for a coder to show up, I am interested in doing this myself. Does it sound like this book could help me do this? At the end of the day I don't care if a white box attacks a black box so long as the number side of things works and the controls.

Any advice, and an alternate seller. I would prefer not to get it from the US if possible, as I would like it fairly quickly, and if I want it within the week from the US then I have to pay the cost again, just for postage. ;)

Cheers!
Ian

Try this list at Kelkoo. It shows several UK sources and prices.

The book is not really designed for experienced coders (although coders may find it useful). This book starts at the beginning, teaching you Torque script as though you never saw a line of code in your life, and also going into other Torque issues such as modeling and level editing.

I never actually read the book. This is just my impression based on hearing about it hundreds of times in the forums.

Bingo: "teaching you Torque script as though you never saw a line of code in your life" thats what I wanted to see. :D

Thanks Wysardry!

I just received my copy, and, apart from some of the common issues people have been having, I'm really enjoying it. It's cool to be able to work along with the coding step-by-step instructions and relatively quickly have something to show for it...

I'm just glad I don't have to write my own engine now (...like I EVEN have the time for that). ;)

I'm realizing, too, that I *will* have to cough up the $$ for the Torque Engine license at some point, but it's great that it's so affordable... :D

Have Fun!
