Hello. My name is Paul, and im a student at UMBC. I have knowledge of Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. I run windows and OS X on a daily basis. I am interested in building my resume, and i greatly enjoy programming (hey i'm a geek, i know). I know C, C++, VB.NET, VB (6), sql [access and mysql], and PHP all extensively. I know alittle perl, C#,and html. I pickup programming languages rather quickly so i can learn any API's that woudl be needed. I am very interested in Network code, i have reciently taken a NSA sponsored network programming course that focused on the C langage.

I'm looking for a team that knows what its doing OR is willing to pay me. I would prefer a team that knows what it is doing. I have had several 15 year olds approach me and ask me to just give them my source code [and Torque SDK which i purchased]. So for that reason if your under 18, please don't contact me. If your team hasn't already purchased the Torque please don't contact me. I want dedicated people with realisitic expectations. [Hey guys if a team could put out a game in a week, then i could do it by myself in a month. This is not possible]

I really want to be part of a well organized team, with realistic goals.

My dream job would be to just jump on an existing team and help them customize there netcode to support more players.

I have my own project that i want to do eventually [I'll post it up after this]. I have no desire to work on it just yet, i want to learn more torque fist, and have a project under my belt before i attempt anything as large as this on my own, HOWEVER for me to join your project you must have a document like this typed up for me to read.

The best way to contact me is

If you are unwilling to use aim, then you can email me

Sigh, my timing is always bad :-(

I'm actually working on putting together a contracting team. I do a lot of paid contracting work and want to eventually expand to the point where the team could create anyones game(or other app) from a plan. At this time I have one engine coder and one moddeler that I use but I do not have enough work to keep you as busy as you might like. I try to locate individuals that are willing to be "on-call" for assistance when my workload gets heavy so that I can keep everyone happy. Problem is, I would hate to take on more than I can handle and not have someone to call upon. So if you, or anyone else for that matter is interested in doing contract work you can contact me and let me know what your skills are, and what kind of availability I can expect from you.

It's not the greatest deal obviously because I never know when I''ll get my next offer and I do not typically look for jobs when I'm already loaded. So starting out may be slow but if I could find some dedicated people I would look for more projects to take on. I chose this route because it is so hard to get people to dedicate themselves to a game that will take a lot of time with no guarantee of pay till it's done and it's even difficult to get people to work for pay because there are two distinct classes of people here. The novice class, and the expert class. The novice class usually cannot meet the skill requirements you need when you pay someone, and the Expert class usually feels that if they can't get their full $40-60 per hour, that getting nothing is somehow better. I like to get paid well just like anyone else does, but if I have a choice of nothing or $10 bucks an hour, I'll take the $10, lol.

I have found contracting to be very rewarding in more ways than one. First, you get paid, but most of all, you get to work on serious projects that are almost always headed for completion. When someone is going to pay me $50+ per hour to get their work done, I pretty well know that they are dead serious about their product. Nobody just throws away that kind of money. I can't talk about them due to NDA's, but I have had the pleasure of working on some projects using TGE that are not gaming related and when I started out I had no intentions of working on anything but games. I found that non-game projects can be quite fun despite the fact that there is nothing to play, lol. Just like you, I'm a programming freak that just loves to do this stuff, so I'll take on any idea that looks promising or pays well.

Just something for you to consider.
