Book advice

Hey all,
I need some advice on a good 3d art book that I can crawl in bed with and read. It doesn't have to be specific to any one program.
It's just that I've been reading on new stuff like normal mapping and it always links back to some former practice that links to something else. So I would love anyone who could point me in the right direction.

If you look to the bottom of the right hand collum you will see recomended books there. I almost always see some type of artwork book listed there.

I am aware of the links on the side of the pages. Been here awhile.
The thing is, although I'm sure that all of those books are great, they all seem to handle one specialty and I am looking for something that gives a well grounded overview of 3D art today.
Thanks anyway though
