Content Packs

My team and I need to raise a little bit of money, so we plan on releasing a few content packs over the next month-2 months.
We want the community to play a role, by letting us know what YOU need. Do you need structures? Textures? Objects? Better Trees?
I'd really like to know what you feel would be best for the community.

All these packs are allowing me to prototype things faster with good models instead of just place holders.

I'm with Fail66. I'm buying almost all of the content packs that are available from GG because I'm not much of a modeler either. I'm going to suggest and all of the above answer. But definately more characters. All these packs are allowing me to prototype things faster with good models instead of just place holders.

I'd put my vote in for vehicles or various outdoor objects (rocks, grass, flowers, etc.).

Www.turbosquid.com offers some nice models for what i think are reasonable prices (some are for free). Just make sure you read the EULA, and remember that for some models you can't sell your game with it in them...

I would definitely be interested in more characters. Especially WWII soldiers. :)

Turbosquid is a little pricey, except for the free stuff of course. I bought a mortar from Altair models for $25, and Turbosquid sells the same exact model for $65. That being said, I've bought quite a bit from Turbosquid anyways. I've purchased many WWII weapons, but the problem with Turbosquid models is that they aren't set up for Torque.I would definitely be interested in more characters. Especially WWII soldiers. :)

The same things Tim Aste has made but for a Sci Fi techno universe.

Sweet, these are great ideas all around. Keep 'em coming, we will post more once we have some images done.Chris "xtencilate" Wilson

Trees, crates, weapons.... anything.
The problem that I see with most content packs out there is that they try to simulate the real world too much and don't leave much room for games that aren't action fps type games.

I would like to see some content packs with a bit of a unatural, almost cartoony feel. Something along the line of games like crash bandicoot. Realistic but not so much that it could be taken as real world items.Trees, crates, weapons.... anything.

What about monsters-like, dragon-like, and huge mountable fututistic vehicles. I like to see that types of contents.-Roger

How about a bunch of real-world buildings / houses / structures - with interiors (so it would be QuArK work). Those are things that are boring to build, but they are useful to 'fill out' a modern-era game.

I'd be interested in your-average-tennis-shoe-kind-of Dude and Dudettes :-). Sim-like average people for architectural walk-through and other non-game stuff. Some animations like sitting-down, typing on a PC, reading newspaper with appropriate furniture (table, chair etc.) would be nice.

I like the Tim Aste stuff, but it is more fantasy, I would be interested in more classic medieval structures. I am no modeller, unless you need some dice. Also characters from the same time period, knights, archers, crossbow, you get the idea. Even a few standard units with weapon mount points would be nice.

A team member of mine is working on a lot of Quark buildings just like this, offices, with all the menial details, desks, chairs, etc... will probably go to buildings / houses also...
would anyone else be interested in similar... and what era... modern, medeival ?
My team has been throwing around the idea of content packs also since we've been stockpiling some work.
would there be any interest in multi content packs...
say a RPG style one, with some castles, common houses, etc etc... then some interfaces, dialog boxes, maybe a customized journal system for that style of gameplay with easy implementation..
basically the combination of model content, interior content, some script (possibly code) content, and interface content ? Any theme really, modern, sci-fi.

Personally, I'd lay down cash for some basic player and vehicle models, completely done [but obviously with the intent to edit...], with the blender source files.Gary (-;

Normally when you do a content pack you want to support as many 3D applications natively as possible (ie. using the applications primary file format such as .max for 3DS Max .ma for Maya, and so on and so forth). This will encourage people to buy your content pack since they know the data is in a format that they can use and work with without hassles or troubles. You will also want to supply DTS files, your textures, potentially the source files that generated the textures (ie. PSD or PSP), documentation and any other materials or information that the user will need to use. You should also setup a support page or site for people in case they have questions.Logan
