anyone know why the error ran over assumption about "convex hulls" occurs when ever i try importing a static shape more complex then a rock from 3dsm? if anyone knows why this is or how to go about making sure it doesnt occur id be extremely gratefull

version of max is 4.2, hardware, doesnt particularly matter since it has happened on several systems, pc 450, 900, 1ghz, etc etc, memory everywere from 128 to 1 gig and the error message was ran over assumption about convex hulls, onjects beingt exported have been one was a castle wall another was treeand any number of other objects with more complexity then a rock

Are you creating collision details levels? The only thing I can think of off hand that the exporter uses convex hulls for is the collision details.

yes i was using collision detail levels, i tried it without the collision details and it works fine, but id really like to get it to work with the collision

Try doing a simple box for the collision object, rather than using the whole mesh.Phil.

It could be that your convex hulls are not really convex. The exporter is probably testing to make sure they are. As Phil suggests, you may want to start with some simpler convex shapes and work up from there.
