MAX Exporter problems

I have found the link to max6_7 tools...
What do you do with the .DS_Store files?? Which directory do you put them in??
Now how do I install the Max 7 exporter.. the same way as described in the official docs for Max 5 and 6?
But then in the docs in saids:
Multires.dle file from Max R4 and copy it into your STDPlugs directory in R5
But I do not have MAX R4... which means that I don't have Multires.dle.... is this a problem??? Would anyone be able to provide me with a copy of their MAX R4 Mulitires.dle file actually?
Now I have both Max 6 and Max 7....
BUT I do not have Character Studio with my MAX 6... so my default alien guy is loading up funny... must I have character studio for this to work??
Also, is there another way of making character models without using biped method??

In regards to the multires.dlm, you are likely reading this wrong. You only need to do that step if you are using the Max 4 exporter in Max 5 (since these two version of the application can share plugins, just like how Max 6 and 7 can), since you are using Max 7, ignore this since it does not apply to you.
You can install Character Studio into your Max 6 so that when it loads a .max file with a CS file in it it will load this data, but since you dont actually own CS for this version of Max you may not manipulate the CS data, you can simply view it. Since you have Max 7 though I recommend that you simply work in it all the time since the exporter plugins work fine with it and you get far more options to work with.
As for making game character skeletons without using CS, you can if you choose to do so use bones, nodes or any other object or item to create the skeletal rig. If you choose to do so though you will need to redo all of the stock Torque DSQ files since they are not compatible with non CS files (there are some tricks you can do to get around this but I think its well beyond your skill level to cover here).
