MAX 6 and 7 Exporter

I have found the link to max6_7 tools...

What do you do with the .DS_store files?? Which directory do you put them in??

Now how do I install the Max 7 exporter.. the same way as described in the official docs for Max 5 and 6?

But then in the docs in saids:

Multires.dle file from Max R4 and copy it into your STDPlugs directory in R5

But I do not have MAX R4... which means that I don't have Multires.dle.... is this a problem??? Would anyone be able to provide me with a copy of their MAX 4 Multires.dle file actually??

Now I have both Max 6 and Max 7....

BUT I do not have Character Studio with my MAX 6... so my default alien guy is loading up funny... must I have character studio for this to work??

Also, is there another way of making character models without using biped method??

Many thanks.

If you have max 7, you should have Character Studio bundled with it, if you only have max 6 than its probably your best bet to look at the BT character pack, since I *think* it doesn't require CS to work. The multires stuff is for max 5 (?) only, just because of compatibility issues with the exporter.

You can animate a model with any IK structure you want, although that will result in having to do all the animations without (shouldn't be too hard, I've gotten simple custum rigs working)

The awnser to your first question (out of order isn't it?) would be to put the dle inside c:\3dsmax7\plugins if thats where you installed it. I didn't put the .ds_store files anywhere and the plugin works for me.

Kayley for future reference please do not make multiple posts on the same question, it causes far too much confusion to do so and makes it impossible for other people who may have the same question as you are having to find a solution
