However, the main reason for purchasing and downloading the licensed version of TGE is so that you have the source code (and/or can sell your own game of course)--and to actually change source code, you need to be able to compile your changes into a new executable.
All is not lost however--GarageGames has been very busy helping out those that do not have or cannot afford a "commercial" compiler environment, by providing the "Torque Build Environment" (see documentation Here), which installs a free compiler, debugger, and Integrated Editor Environment for you. You can get the alpha version of the Torque Build Enviroment Installer in this news item:Torque Build Environment Alpha Test Begins.

Yes, when you download the installer and extract all the files, you get a "torqueDemo.exe" file that works exactly like the demo does--in fact, it's the same file. However, the main reason for purchasing and downloading the licensed version of TGE is so that you have the source code (and/or can sell your own game of course)--and to actually change source code, you need to be able to compile your changes into a new executable.

OK THANKS Stephen Zepp ,Peter Dwyer. ;)))

All torque games launch using an executable so in this sense torque indie is much like the demo. You can name the executable whatever you want though so it does not have to be called demo.exe. It can be called anything you want. For instance my executable is called DZD.exe (the project is called Die Zombie! Die! :o)
