Hey, Bob.

This is probably a risky thing to ask, as you do freely admit to being a newbie, but here it goes...

* By claiming that you just need people to help program, are you saying you already have all the people you need to handle content, such as level building, audio, modelling, animation, 2D artwork, etc?

* By saying you need "help" on programming, do you have a very definite task-list in place that you are in need of additional help performing?

* Is there a reason why you need multiple programmers instead of just one? Particularly if you are a newbie designer, why are you working on a project that requires so much intensive programming work that you require more than one?

Sorry if it's kind of a knee-jerk reaction, but a lot of guys who are just starting out have no idea of the amount of kind of effort that goes into even a fairly simple game. Not that I want to scare you off or anything... but if you are a first-time designer and you are already looking for an entire TEAM to work on your game, you are probably in way over your head.

Particularly on your first project, you are going to have to assume that it's going to be largely a solo effort. You will need to learn the basic skills necessary to turn your dream into reality. You are probably only going to be able to get help from people that you already know. Or you are going to need to fork over a lot of money. But you aren't going to be able to lead a team of people to create a game unless you already know the ropes yourself. And to do that you either need to have experience working as a member of a team, or you will have had to have completed projects on you own.

Don't take this as discouragement - quite the opposite. It's not about paying the dues, it's about learning the ropes. I actually really want to see more guys with dreams and a love of games to be successful. So start a little smaller, and make sure your own abilities and limitations, and those of your team, and push those boundaries a little more each time!

Good luck with whatever you choose, Bob!

RPGs

RPG's would mean something belonging to a RPG

Of course I didnt pay any attention in English class so I could be wrong.

- You know you've been using MS3D too much when you spend several minutes trying to find "Duplicate Selection" in order to copy something in MS Word.
