Dark Sphere

Hiya everyone in the GG community. Hope you all had a good christmas and wish you all a happy new year.
Now on to the idea, its pretty late so I'll finish off posting all the details tomorrow but for now some info on my current brain-child.

STORY (Quick version) :
You take the part of a member of an inner city police force but are forced to join the army as an alien menace have landed on your planet and declared war upon your race.

PROGRESSIVE GAME-PLAY:
You start as the police officer but then become the soldier and the level of alien fighting increases as your unit is taken upto (And beyond) the front line.

ALIEN MENACE:
The aliens arrival co-insided with the dramic change in the planets atmosphere slowy shrouding the planet in darkness forcing use of new amour types. And just how come these two events happened at the same time? The answer lies deeper in the darkness.

LIVE THE GAME:
Intense gameplay as you have only a certain amount of ammo, then you either get a reload from your base or try and go hand-to-hand lol.
You are always with your unit and have to work as a team, live as a team.
Destructable environments add realism to the world in which you'll be drawn into.

GET PROMOTED:
Doing certain tasks and showing acts of bravery can get you a battlefield promotion and you will have the chance to order other soldiers and use better amour and equipment.

I'll post more after I wake up and finish off some concept sketches, if ya like the idea please post some helpful crits if you have any.

I like that idea - here's something that might be neat: a command (like in tribes 2) that's something like "I need ammo!", and then a fellow AI player rushes to your aid.....

that's my two-cents...

nice model by the way - reminds me of halo =D (though i've never played it before...)

Thanks for your comments, thats not the final player model, just what i could whip up before falling asleep on my keyboard lol.

Whats the poly count on that? It looks perdy high poly to me but ya can never know.

Hey all, thanks max and george. The model in that pic is around 850 polys atm. I'll post an updated pic when im done.

Wow! Only around 850 polys, thats very very good. I've made friggen weapons around that many polys :P. I would assume that the skin is just as a tester for now but etheir was I think it would look nice if it had some faint little red glows in shapes of sorts on the gold eye cover to give it the affect of that the player actually haas some sort of meters infront of him. Dunno just an idea.

Yea all the textures are just simple test patterns and thanks for the visor texture idea, I'll put that in :D
