Suggestions on splash and MM screen

What do you think of our splash screen and main menu screen? Do they appear professional or do they look sub par. We will be animating the lettering on the main menu screen so they are pulsing. Suggestions are welcome.. Thanks

They look professional to me. Personally I like the top one. I think that the second one looks more like it would be where the garage games logo fades in and out would be. Just a oppinion though.

As to the Dark Minds one - LOL how ironic - the guy's got a bright head. It's pretty neat
Nice!

They are both cool. I am a sucker for black and white so the splash is cool. Simple and to the point. The lens flare is kinda hokey...but one mans cliche is another man's artistic vision. : )Good job dude.

The DME logo is a fallen angle, his wings should look like they are stripped of feathers. Its supposed to reflect the more dark and gothic theme of our company. As for the lens flare I'm not sure what that is =) If it's the rings around his head, to me that just gave it a angelic feel.

1) tone down the rings around his head a lot. I had no idea it was a head, just thought it was a light "flare" meaning the point that most reflected your (off scene) light source. I think if you tone that down a lot, the image will jump out for what it is a lot more.
2) The wings are either not detailed enough (no feathers), or out of proportion...the left wing of the angel appears huge in comparison to the right wing, possibly due to overlap without colors to give depth contrast. The black/white theme is strong, I'm not suggesting adding color, but it's hard to differentiate which wing is which (or that they are wings at all). That, combined with not recognizing the angel's head is what probably, at least for me, caused me to gut reaction think it was an abstract image.

Ahh...personally, I thought it was simply an abstract image--knowing that it's an angel definitely makes it look different, which implies:1) tone down the rings around his head a lot. I browsed the net and found a similar style of logo

That's kind of what we are going for, you should be able to tell what the image is, but it won't necessary be realistic or in proportion.
The initial feeling is what we are going for.
If after viewing the logo you're thinking the product looks hokey or unprofessional then we need to revamp it.
When you see the logo does it make you interested in the product? And what assumptions would you make about the product just from the logo?
PS I will get him to fix the head and wings.

Well it's abstract to a degree =) It's not supposed to be photo realistic. It's supposed to give a reaction, a tone to the company. I browsed the net and found a similar style of logo

In other words, the theme, concept, stylized view is fine, just to me could use a tweak to make it grab more.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I'm not dogging the image, just commenting on how it was interpreted by my eyes :) It does look good, and to me at least I think it would be better able to "grab" attention if it was slightly more able to recognize. In other words, the theme, concept, stylized view is fine, just to me could use a tweak to make it grab more.

Now, that one I like! When it was all white, it got muddled. But that one holds the eye.

Looking at the website, one of the things that really sticks out like a sore thumb is that your 3d models are excellent, but the lighting and texture mapping needs a bit of work.
Granted, I probably couldn't do any better, though.
I can't wait to play the game. It looks like it's going to be uber-fun.

My last managment task is trying to find a way to get some story scenes done whether it's comic book style or CGI scenes .
It's proving to be a huge issue cause you need to be skilled to do the audio and visuals for something like that and highly skilled people don't work for percentages of a indy project =)

I believe a lot of the models are being scrapped or fixed. I'm not dealing with the making of the game much any more so I'm not positive. I beleive the engine they are using has normal maps and shaders so it should help desguise the textures and make them look better. My last managment task is trying to find a way to get some story scenes done whether it's comic book style or CGI scenes .

not so keen of the black one though, doesnt have the same level of design as the menu. (and personally i'd kill the lens flare off :) )
the actual sketch/lineart could do with some refining too, the lines for the wings (i presume they are wings) are a little scratchy.
as ever, these are just my opinons. others may vary :)
cheers,
