Lightwave IMGs for critism

For the new game that me an Knouse are making, if any of you have heard of it already, I've been experimenting with lightwave to see about different things to put in it, and decided to make a gun. I mean, I made this quickly and didn't even add any texturing to it, but this is the basic gist of it:

I'm accepting as many critisms as possible with this cause I want it to look as good as possible.
PS- I'll probably be posting a lot more than just THIS image here, cause lately I've been spitting out models like crazy.

Cid, Ted pretty much covered the other things I would say, but Ill go on to add that if you indeed are modeling an M16, id suggest getting an image from the net to work off of. The M16 is popular enough where im sure you could find a nice side shot of it. Just place the image on a plane, back it off your main work area, and use it as reference. Ive never used Lightwave before, but if you can lock or freeze the plane in place, it would be a good idea so you dont accidently select or move it.

The model really lacks any form and appears boxy while also using excessive polygons for what it needs to represent the shape. You might want to go back, review some reference samples and start over again.

Yea, thats not the final project, not near, I knew that no need saying it again. Well good for me, at least you guys knew what it was :) And I was looking at a few reference samples. I tried to find one that was like a perfect shot from the side or the top, but that was tough, most pictures of it was a perspective view. Yea The carrying handle, lol, I got bored, and tried to do a little something to it....didn't quite work out so well. I knew that the mag. was retarded as soon as I looked at the picture of it.
But I'm confused with what you said, Ted, about the barrel, do you want something like this?

lol, I know the ASCII is a little vague but do you want something that is a little bit thinner than the barrel right now, and then widens at the end of it in order to form the suppressor?

hmmm?
.:EDIT:.
I know about the black lines that are on the handle, it had something to do with the sub-dividing, I can handle that. lol...handle...no pun intended

Hmmm.....I lost the M-16 somewhere in the depths of my computer...kinda sux, but I know its there. I'll find it when I build up enough patience. In the meantime I made this sword.

Overall, the shape is not bad, but there's a few things that seem "odd".
1) The "carrying handle", which is actually the rear-sight, is warped. It should have an almost rectangular look to it, sloping slightly on the top.
2) There's no front-sight, which is needed to aim it accurately for ranges over ten feet ;)
3) Towards the end of the magazine, it looks like it tapers off a bit. It could also be the angle playing a trick on me, but if not, then the magazine should be just a curved rectangle of the same width from top to bottom.
4) The barrel looks like an arrow. M-16's have a flash suppressor at the end that is just a cylindrical shape slightly larger than the barrel itself, which can probably do with being a bit thicker here.
Not a bad start :)
