Animation of Root anim (I'm getting a crash)

by Jonathan Rose · in Torque Game Engine · 12/13/2004 (10:05 am) · 7 replies

I'm trying to export an animation a new root sequence for my character, I have set collapse transforms to on, there is no indication of a problem in the log or dump files, but it crashes upon loading in either Torque proper OR the shape viewer. Mind giving me a hand with this one?

1. Is this a common problem? If so, whats the common way to fix it?

2. Are there any decent animation export tutorials out there to go along with the modelor tutorials tutorials?

I don't use 3d max really so I prolly won't be of much help, but I'll see what I can do. Next question are you using the standard skelaton from the orc or green guy or blue guy? Because if you are and you just rotated one joint a tiny little bit it won't load the dsq's correctly and it will crash the engine. Oh, yeah if it crashes the shape viewer it will crash the engine too.

I was building off the Orc's skeleton.

So... if thats the case, just how are we supposed to create new root anims?

I'm really not so sure on this one but I would assume that you should re start your moddel make a root animation export it as a dsq file replace the old one delete the animation sequance from your player moddel re export the player moddel dts and try to run the game.

Didn't really have any luck with the last method...

Are there any resources whatsoever on creating animations... particularly root animations, in Max? I haven't seen any and Iv'e done a solid 2 hours of searching.

If there aren't any max users responding this time, I'll probably just create a new topic in animation.
