The Blast!!

Well since someone broke the ice and decided to ShowOff a little more than Torque related art work I decided to go ahead and post a screen shot and link to small movie (20 seconds) I made.
The blast was from a tutorial I found over at 123d.com. It was good tutorial for thing like the displacement material. It also went through Multiple uvw's and in the proccess of doing the tutorial you build the biggest blend material you ever wanted to build.
Any way the Blast and the terrain renders were from 3dsmax (Done seperatly) and the whole scene was composited with (Discreet) Combustion. I belieive its far from perfect but it looks pretty good for the amount of time I have in it.

Although I am not sure if I can compete with the playstation, I hope you enjoy it.

Nice movie clip!

The mushroom cloud is well done and so is the texture animation....

All the elements are there, but I think the only thing you have to work on is your timing/keyframing skills so it looks more natural.

Thanks
That was one thing that was a little hard to get right. Its a scale animation on ONE object. So it kinda makes it weird to work with. If I were to do it agian the bast would be several peices so that parts of it would scale out different ways. That would improve the TIMING of it.

Nice movie,

Crazy thats it's a scale animation on ONE object. Why did you make the object (mushroom cloud) visible before the bomb went off anyways?

I liked it though..

Well the actual animation of the cloud in MAX is longer but I spent about 16 hours rendering what is there so I didn't really wanna make any longer. And if I animated the opicity channel in max the thing gets to looking real bad.
Then also I'm only fair in skill when it comes to combustion and I couldn't figure out how to make that GLOW Flash right in the beginning while Blast itself was hidden, So it had to be visible. I probably should have started rendering the combustion project a few frames into the action. Or add a small town or somthing. LOL

OH WELL, Like I said its not perfect but I'm happy with it.

Buy the DVD's and he'll show you how he did it. Currently your smoke looks too gel like. Are you using Metaballs? And that lightning looks weird. But not a bad first attempt.

Well, I personally love the cartoony qualities of it.
