What I think of Zap...

Seems fun. Played about 20 min of it. Very frantic. I noticed that you can choose weapon loadouts and things like a cloaking device and mines and shields and stuff... although that didn't seem to work for me. Took a few minutes to get used to the controls... very unique. I'm interested in seing how the teamplay works. I noticed there are turrets. Too bad there aren't deployable ones.

Also, it didn't have my gamepad as a selectable one. I use the Nyko air flow. I did however try to use it with a different gamepad selection, and it was as if auto fire was on.... so I stuck with the keyboard/mouse controlls and those seem to work fine.

Something else I noticed. The chat function is pretty much pointless just like in Quake 3. It scrolls so fast, that as soon as you say something... it's gone. I tried the v-chat menu, and all it does is display pre-written text in the chat box... that also just dissapears instantly. It would be cool if the v-chat was actual voice sounds for taunts and stuff.

Also... there definatly needs to be servers with like... a 20 player limit because the game is just to cluttered with more than 30 people flying around.

Also... I think it would be better if W would move you foward, instead of up. So that whatever way you are facing with the mouse, is the direction you will go foward. There also needs to be a way to config the controls. I'm more used to edsf than wasd.

You can set the controls to be relative to your facing in the options menu. And the player limits have been lowered. And we'll be adding control config in the next version. Good feedback!

I think the game is wicked, but I kept getting booted.

Also I agree with Derek about chat function, it's hard to see messages from people (I also think the font is too big)

I'm going to split out chat and death messages. The keep getting booted thing is because the servers keep crashing -- I'm going to investigate.

@Mark: curious about that myself--does it look like server issues? Not sure if the 64 bit cpu is bothering it or not..

Ok... I played the game on LAN for a while, and now that I understand the game 100%... It's AMAZING. It seriously is wonderfull! It has alot of elements of Tribes... yet with the view... it just feels perfect. I now see how you could choose different rolls in your team. The game mode where you have to get the ball in the goal is awsome and fun to try and get your team to work together to make it go to the goal. My only complaint now is the chat feature... but even if it's fixed so that you can read a message before it dissapears... I don't see how I'd ever get the chance to read the chat at all because the game is so frantic. Of course, that's been said about games like Tribes: Vengeance... even though I can keep up with that chat just fine. I guess it all comes with experience.
