360 degree panoramic skies...

Umm, as I've understood things the torque engine uses some sort of sin&cos system for getting that realistic skydome effect when mapping the sky onto the "box" (You know what I'm talking about). However I won't be getting into that too much since I'm quite lousy at math...

What I'm wondering is if anybody here knows of a way to easily create 360degree backdrops for the use as "sky" in Torque. Umm, please tell me there's some sort of program to help you with this or will I have to create a large 2048*512 pic in PS and start painting? Realistic skies are relatively hard to make, and it doesn't make things easier when you have to map it over 6(5) different sides..(cube) Umm..well, First I tought it might be possible to center a camera in an environment in Bryce4 and then take a picture after rotating the camera 90degrees each time... But then I realised that it wouldn't work... ;)

So, if you know of a good method to do this..or if you know where to find a tutorial on the subject, please reply here or send me an email..

Terragen works well for this:

www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

Here's some tutorials for using it:

I had a link to a tutorial for actually making a sky, but I can't find it at the moment. Do a search for "terragen" on the forums and it may turn up - I think I got it from here =)

The method you mentioned with Bryce works well too.
