Detail brushes!

Has anybody seen this before? Floating detail brushes? I've added some internal walls as details because they don;t affect the architecture, wierd thing is they seem to render as if they are floating!

This is driving me mad! All of my detail brushes appear to be floating! If anyone can find the reason maybe it could be used to do toon outllining :)

I never use Detail brushes as walls , but i can make one and see if i get the same thing.

Its not just walls, any detail brush I add seems to float! They seem to get a sort of defaullt shadow on all edge, regardless of lighting! I will check my other models and see if this specific to this one or whether I just didn't notice before.

No floating here Fuitbat.
Is the map a big map ?
Because my Detail brush wall looks like a ordinary wall .
But i only made a box with 4 walls inside.

Well a detail brush stops that brush from splitting the one below it. So what you have is a brush on top of a flat surface below it, so its kind of like that they are not touching... (this is why we use detail brushes)

This is my assumption as to what could be causing this behaviour anywho... have you tried looking at the interior rendering debug mode?
