V12:License per product/company/developer?

by Ken Paulson · in General Discussion · 03/14/2001 (12:05 am) · 2 replies

G'day!

Just a quick question.

If I buy the license, is it a license for the product or is my company now licensed to use it for many products?

Do I only need a single license for multiple developers on the same project?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I just want to make sure I know what's going on. :)

Stay Casual,

Ken

In a similar vein -- why does the license buy in terms of updates/upgrades? As the documentation is updated and new features added, will these be made available to licensed developers?

You should buy a license per programmer or person that acutally uses the source code, so each person has access to the password protected support area of the site. Our goal is to get lots of good products, so each developer can work on multiple products.

What we won't allow is having one person buy the source, copy it, and give it to multiple developers. That is not in the spirit of the agreement, and will not allow us to stay in business.

Purchasing the source gives you access to updates and patches to the V12. At some point, we will start work on a V13, which will not be covered by this purchase, but that is far in the future. This one needs to be successful first.
