Can I request Garagegames to put my game in a box to be sold in stores right when they publish it?

You can request it, but they might say no. You can scare them by showing off a really cool game that will make them submit to any ultimatum that you posit as well. Then Atari will buy it, switch it over to the UT3 engine and cancel it for tax purposes.

I believe that evaluation is done on a case by case basis, and I'm not sure if they do the actual publishing or if they work as an intermediary contact with box publishers. I know that if I were GG's publishing team, I'd make sure to assess risk scenarios rather than pushing willy-nilly into the already crowded Wal-Mart shelf market. But, then I'm not their publishing team, which is something that I'm sure each and every one of them count their blessings on before bed.EDIT: The post I replied to disappeared. So if the situation has not changed you can most likely publish via GG and if they feel it is good enough for a box, etc and so forth.

I asked them this question a while ago, before I purchased the engine, and they said something to the effect of, "We used to use Sierra for boxed games, but now we are looking at other options, however if a game is good enough..."So if the situation has not changed you can most likely publish via GG and if they feel it is good enough for a box, etc and so forth.

@Kenneth -Getting your game in stores is not what its cracked up to be. Sell online to see if there is demand first. You can always put the game in stores later. If your game is selling well online, you can get a much better distribution deal. If your game doesn't sell well online chances are its not going to sell well in stores so your investment or whomevers investment is going to go down the toilet.

@David -So true. So sadly true. Or worse, you have your game rejected by some suit then they fire that suit for making bad decisions. Sadly, your game project is dead in the water. Incentive to go independent? You better believe it.@Kenneth -Getting your game in stores is not what its cracked up to be. Sell online to see if there is demand first.
