Hey. I'm new here, and I love games. They're more or less my life.
I play ALOT of games on X-Box. Not too much on PC, though. And I was wondering, if I made a game, a GOOD game, could it be published on X-BOx?
Also, I wanted to know how advanced the Torque engine is. I admit to not being very artistic, but I am very experianced with computers. And I write alot of stories, and have a big imagination. Is this enought to make my story into a big (or atleast mediocre) video game?? I don't really have that many friends, at least none who really play any video games or are interested in devolping one....so is it possible for one person to make a great game on his own, without a big team?

You can do everithing of that, but first you have to learn a lot of programming, 2d and 3d design, sound design and things like that.

Also, in the Torque game engine, it uses Polygons for character models, right? Cause if you do, I know somebody who's great with 3D polygon thingamabobers. So....can this actually be POSSIBLE for a decent game? Even without the whole team with all those talented artists....since I live in an extremely small town....there aren't many of those around.... : (

So I already have most of the story line written out. And I am good with animation, just not REALLY good with it. I can still draw some pretty impresssive character models, and their animated movments. And my gameplay element is survival horror, the story is pretty deep- atleast for a video game....and I have a whole set of combat moves and controls written. Also, in the Torque game engine, it uses Polygons for character models, right? Well, Torque works well with polygon thingamabobers, but your outline is simply that: an outline. You've been working on the easiest part of the project. The part that takes .01% of the time to initially draw up. Creating the assets, making it work within the engine, redrafting to accomodate changes, fun-balancing, and then the post-project support will be where you will spend the other 99.99% of your time.

Just start really, really small. Read some of the recent plans about people's game in a day experiences to get an idea of how small I'm talking about. Once you've gotten your hands dirty so to speak, you'll have a much better idea of how much work is actually involved in producing a releasable title.

Good games need good artists -- and not just 3d artists but concept artists, sound designers, animators, musicians...
Sure, it's possible but you have to "right size" your game -- break it down to a core gameplay element and focus on that. Start small.
