Official Torque level Creator

by Thomas Shaw · in Torque Game Engine · 11/16/2004 (10:40 am) · 5 replies

Is this in the works? Why not?

It just seems to me that Torque users shouldn't have to rely on less than perfect editors created for other engines. It would be so sweet to have a level creator that was created specifically for the Torque engine. That could handle all the quirks of the engine and implement all it's features properly.

It should't be a struggle to create content for this engine...as it appears to be, considering all the threads on this issue.

@Thomas: something to keep in mind--people mostly only come to the forums when they have problems, so all you normally see on the forums are, you guessed it, problems!

I've been doing research on several aspects of game production recently, and I don't honestly think -anyone- has a seamless art pipeline all the way down to their engine. Even writeups on large label/AAA companies mention how terrible their own internal art pipelines are.

In any case, a large amount of the "quiet" folks are the ones that have their pipeline/workflow working well, and so don't have to ask question here.

It seems that you're looking for answers. Why is this not in the works? The less than perfect editors are not enough!

Well, there are NUMEROUS threads about this if you use the search function to your far right, above the Dev Snapshot. You will soon realise that coding and making new editors is not the most easiest thing to do.

It's a Game Engine, it has a level editor that works.. maybe not more than that, but who do you suggest to code this in? It's alot of work.
