GG Logo?

It looks a bit more 'mainstream' or something ... but I have to say I miss the old one. Why the switch?

I think the new logo is up to par with these requirements. The old logo was hard to reproduce (it was that funky crumpled metal). Try to imagine the old logo in only black and white (no shades of gray). It would have looked... funny. On the other hand, the new logo will still look great and not lose its identity, even if reproduced in only black and white.

Guys, you've got to remember that the whole purpose of a logo is the branding of a product. It needs to be simple enough to be easy to reproduce, yet be very recognizable. The logo only turned up today. Did I forget to refresh my cache yesterday or something?
Where do we download it from so we can replace the sdk version without a full download?

I like it, but then again, I might be biased ;)
Now seems like the time for rebranding, I figure we've gotta fix these things before we get TOO famous!

The old icon was a graphic design nightmare, in my opinion. My first thought on seeing it back when I started up was "they paid money for this?" So, I am quite glad to see it gone. The new one mantains much of the recognizability of the old one (colored rings, etc still read as from across the room), while the cleaner line art makes it actually recognizable as more than just a muddle of grey.I like it, but then again, I might be biased ;)

Until the official site gets updated, I've put up the new logo kit on my site for those who want it right now.

I remember the V12 demo art... and thinking roughly the same thing... though, i doubt the art was paid for... at least I hope not ;)
It's nice to watch GG ascend.

We went through a normal design process on the GG logo. We had a simple design objective of making a clean, playful and approachable logo that didn't lose the connection we'd made with our old logo. Scalable, easily recognized, flexible and needed to play well with others.
One constant here at GG is change - while we stay true to our mission, you will continue to see us progress... next up the Torque family branding.

I couldnt agree more. The old logo didnt do GarageGames justice.
The new one gives a sense of what the company does. Its bold yet playful... which as far as i can tell is the perfect message GarageGames would want to send to someone.
Just my design 2 cents.

I thought the old one was a bit fussy and over done to the point of clutter. THe new one allthough not amazing, is a lot more simple, elegant and above all functional which I think is a good thing.

Old:

New:

Ain't as slick as GG, but it gets the job done and retains the d-pad/bloody thumb element.

Just by the way, wouldn't it make sense to also change http://www.garagegames.com/favicon.ico to reflect the new branding? I'm still seeing the old one, so please forgive me if it's been changed and it's just a local caching issue.Gary (-;

The logo looks much better and clean vector style, print ready logo... now the site needs to be updated the same way :)

Sorry guys, the new logo on the page is nice, but you need to change the menu graphics to match, that shaded black bar doesn't look right with the clean vector logo. The blue menu highlight looks better.

Anyone else notice the outer circle in the new logo isn't perfectly circular? Theres like a point coming out the left side of it.

new one is great, too... definitely better for reproduction and printing etc etc (less colours and effect, cheaper on ink)

@Sam: ugh, that might be from a photoshop resizing bug. I thought I'd fixed it, but I'll take another look. The high res versions should be round (hopefully)

@Gary: Thanks for pointing that one out! Hadn't even occured to me. It is updated now, but you may have to completely clear your cache to see it. On firefox even a shirt refresh didn't get the new one.@Sam: ugh, that might be from a photoshop resizing bug. I thought I'd fixed it, but I'll take another look. And the logo as displayed on this site bleeds with the left edge, at least in firefox. there's maybe 1px between the edge of the screen and the start of the circle, whereas there's about 5-8 px between the top/bottom of the circle and the edge of the screen or menu bar. might want to add a little more white space to the left side.

Just move it 2-3 px to the right.

Also, for anyone who has a website or is using the old GG logo in your game or in any screenshots, etc. if as you find these images if you can update them with the logos from our new logo kit - I would personally appreciate it. I know it will take time, but I think you'll find the new logo (there is a stacked and a horizontal version) will become as familiar as the old in no time.

Thanks for reminding us Joshua, I noticed it right off, but there are at times sooo many things to get done these details can slip. Thanks to everyone for helping us get our new logo everywhere. Also, for anyone who has a website or is using the old GG logo in your game or in any screenshots, etc. if as you find these images if you can update them with the logos from our new logo kit - I would personally appreciate it.
