What Happened to Chapter 22

Well I Can honestly say that I have learned well more from the forums and the Garage Games Engine reference then from this book. I was a little disappointed when I got the book and found absolutely no AI in it. Then as I started reading I realized alot of different topics that I was concerned with were not covered. When the book discusses modeling the Tommy gun it makes a reference to Chapter 22 saying that we will cover how to add all of the functionality code to the weapon in game. This was a promise that I soon found was broken as I turned to Chapter 22 and found nothing about weapons at ALL? In conclusion I think it is a really nice book for complete noobs with no Idea were to start at all with game development, But If you were smart enough to read the Torque Documentation there really isn't a whole lot in the book for you to know. I will however use the references that the book has in the back that makes up 1/4 of it. All in all I believe it is about a 2 out of 5 because it gives you an Idea about what all you need to get a functional game working but doesn't always tell how you would do it.

I got the book for two reasons...as a quick technical introduction on the different aspects of 3d game development and to help with Torque. I've since gotten the Torque SDK and feel the book is not as necessary as I had thought given the Torque documentation (in fairness to the author, I am skimming the documentation after reading his book.)
At the moment I don't recall specifics but I had a similar experience as you when reading the book and being told the author would go into a certain area heavily later on in chapter so and so, only to find out the author either forgot or the publisher removed the section.

I had the same question in my mind concerning the reference to the tommy gun material that was supposed to be covered in Chapter 22, according to the note in the book. I simply forgot to ask about it. Now that it has come up, what did happen to that information? Otherwise, I really thought the book was useful in being a great, easily accessible resource for information. Forum-diving can be a frustrating experience sometimes.

Joe that is definitely the best thing to get the book for (if you do not have the engine yet and want an intro). I also agree with you Robert about forum-diving that is a big pain but I often come out with some useful information.
