TGE with Ogre3d instead of TSE?

Hi, I think I'm right in saying the TSE is a graphics upgrade.
What about sticking in something like Ogre which is a pretty damn good graphics engine and already does pretty much everything you could want it do do (except come ready to plug in to TGE :-)
I've seen mods so far for things like radiosity, curved surfaces etc.
Any ideas?

Because actually coding radiosity and curved surfaces is a lot easier than integrating a unified engine with an Open Source mish-mash and dealing with the licencing nightmares.
