Do the exporters for max 3 or 4 work for max 2 files?

Because my team uses Max 2 and I don't know how to import it to Torque :S

As Anthony said, no you cannot use a plugin for Max 3 in Max 2. Torque only supports 3DS Max R3 and higher, since you are running an older version its time to tell your artists to get with the times and upgrade, they will appreciate all the great new features that they will have access to in order to enhance their workflow and productivity.

For those of you who are curious here is what goes where for Max plugins since some people don't seem to know yet:

Max 3 plugin = Max 3
Max 4 plugin = Max 4 (and Max 5 if you have access to Max 4 multires.dlm file)
Max 5 plugin = Max 5
Max 6 plugin = Max 6 (and Max 7 too, though I havent had time to check yet)

Upgrading WOULD be a good idea but... We do not have the budget to do so, maybe we could ug from 2 to 3 but i don't think you can do that anymore....

Well, if money is an issue, you could use Blender and the Blender exporter. But then your artists will probably lynch you.

Hehe :D

Well I decided that we can just import the max 2 files to ms3d and from there use the ms3d exporter, don't know if thats a good idea though :/

It might make rigging a nightmare if you have to complete re-rig everything to follow MS's timeline.

But then, I've never used Max 2, and have only used Milkshape and the exporter from scratch. Not as an intermediary.

I don't think so, because my animator uses milkshape to animate (don't know why)
