Costs of Hosting

How's everyone doing?

I was reading this thread a minute ago for information on web hosting, but I really want to know what companies do this for a fee. Of course I also want to know what the fee is. I don't want ads on my site if I can help it, so I don't think Geocities et al is the way to go in the long run. Of course I can't do anything too expensive, but it wouldn't hurt to know what the expensive ones are either.

Try to top this host. And I dont just mean price, I mean price to features and availablility to utilize nearly anything while retaining the ability to quickly scale up at a reasonable price. If that makes sense.

There are many thousands of hosts, so you're likely to get a lot of suggestions.

Personally, I recommend Tera-Byte for the best balance of price, features and reliability. Shared hosting package prices are between $25 and $299 per year.

Another good one is www.lunarpages.com. Basic hosting is $7.95 per month plus $14.95 per year for domain name regstration (which is probably optional).

Lunarpages gives you alot of good services (e.g. php, cgi) even for the basic hosting plan.

Make sure to do a search on 'unlimited' while you are there.
