Good, bad and/or ugly?
Just wanted some comments on my work. This 870 pump comes in at around 417 poly's. It's still not finished as the texture needs some more work, bumpmapping will probably happen later as well as animation, etc.
I just like to get everyone's opinion as to how it rates with commercial game models.

Looks real good though you might want to cut out some polys if the game is a third person shooter. Even in fps's they like to limit the weapons to about 300-350 just so they can concentrate on polys being rendered in the scene. As people are less likely to be staring at the weapon and more at the scene within your crosshairs. I would suggest cutting out some of the polys in the stock of the weapon. You could get away without anyone noticing your stock as it will be completly out of view in a fps, and under someones arm in a third person.

Next time you want feedback, you could get better feedback if you also include your intended use for the product or model. That way people with a clue can give you more precise feedback that will actually do you some good.

Not sure who this "they" that paul speaks of is, but I'm sure 'they' don't work with him. The model is fine if you intend to use LOD like 'they' would. And even if you don't it's still a reasonable poly count. Ultimately you need to decide what your customer base is. If you intend on releasing a game in two years, you can be assured that the low end PC's two years from now will be equal to today's high end PC's. And of course, if your making a single player styled game you could afford even more poly's than you have now.Next time you want feedback, you could get better feedback if you also include your intended use for the product or model. Well thanks for the comments. I was intending to put this towards a game idea I was working on but have scrapped. So unless it fits into whatever next ida I come up with it's just eye candy without a purpose.

And by the way, "they" are people who make models for games such as unreal tournament. Games which display a lot of players on screen cut polys where they can, I imagine that gonzo has made very few if any models for mods of games like unreal tournament 2kx or for any game for that matter, so jump off my sack dousche and find someone else to harass. I was just trying to be constructive with my critisism.

Although I didn't mean for what I said above to be as harsh as it sounded, you can be assured that my hostility was well earned by you. I did everything I could to help you, and you repaid me with idiotic accusations, name calling, and false assumptions as well as talking smack about me behind my back.
If you need proof of WHO was in the wrong, just check your MSN history for the last thing you ever said to me, and then the things you said to Czar about me and consider what brought you to saying those things. You and I both know that you were into two days of heavy frustration when I tried to help YOU by YOUR request and after spending an entire night solving your problem you freaked out on me and our collaboration was over, just like that. If you don't have your MSN history, I still have mine. Just ask, I'll mail it to you.

I'm sorry that what I am posting about has no real relevance to the Remington model, but why even waste the time flaming in someone else's post. Not only does it distract from the real topic that is being discussed, but it make both of you look like kids arguing on some playground. Now I know that last statement will have someone saying I'm doing the same but that's the only analogy I could come up with. The GG forums were established to aid people in discussing topics and getting answers, not to dig through petty arguements.
